Mush Ace’s Privacy Policy

Mush Ace is owned, operated, and maintained by ProductiveTap. In this Privacy Policy, ‘us’ ‘we’ or ‘our’ means ProductiveTap.

We are committed to respecting your privacy. Our Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information.

We may change our Privacy Policy from time to time by publishing changes to it on our website. We encourage you to check our website periodically to ensure that you are aware of our current Privacy Policy.

What personal information do we collect?

Mush Ace identifies mushrooms from photographs. To do that, the photos you choose to identify and the questions you type in chat are transmitted to a third-party AI service for processing. This is described in detail in the next section.

We collect this content only at the moment you tap to identify a mushroom or send a chat message. Mush Ace does not scan your photo library and does not collect anything in the background.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers.

Your identification results, your photos, your notes, and your chat history are saved locally on your device. They are not uploaded to any account and there is no cloud sync. Backups you create are saved wherever you choose to put them.

AI-assisted identification and chat

When you identify a mushroom, the photo is resized and sent through ProductiveTap’s backend to OpenAI, which analyses the image and returns the identification text.

The same applies to chat. Your typed question, the earlier messages in that conversation, and the mushroom image are sent so that the reply has context.

This data is used only to generate your result. It is not used to build a profile of you and it is never used for advertising.

Mush Ace asks for your permission before the first photo is sent. Identification and chat are unavailable until you agree. You can withdraw that permission at any time in the app under More > AI & Data, after which nothing further is sent to the AI service.

Third-party services we use

  • OpenAI receives the photo and chat text described above. It processes this data as our service provider under the OpenAI API terms and data-usage policy, and provides protections equivalent to those described in this Privacy Policy.
  • Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Functions) relays requests to the AI service. Mush Ace signs in anonymously, which creates an identifier that is not linked to your name, email address, or any account you hold.
  • RevenueCat manages subscription status. It receives your purchase and subscription state along with an anonymous app user identifier.
  • Apple and Google process subscription payments through the App Store and Google Play. We never receive your payment details.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with any third party other than those listed above.

Data Storage and Retention

Your identification results, photos, notes, and chat history are stored locally on your device. This data is retained on your device until you choose to delete it. There is no automatic expiration.

Photos and chat text sent for identification are not retained by ProductiveTap’s app backend once the result has been returned to you. Our AI processing provider may retain submitted data for a limited period for abuse monitoring, in accordance with its own API data-usage policy.

How to Delete Your Data

You have full control over your data. To delete your data:

  • Delete individual entries: Swipe left on any saved mushroom, or on any conversation in the Chats tab, to delete it
  • Stop sending data to the AI service: Go to More > AI & Data in the app and turn off permission
  • Delete all app data: Uninstall the app from your device, which removes all stored data
  • Clear app data (Android): Go to Settings > Apps > select the app > Storage > Clear Data
  • Clear app data (iOS): Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > select the app > Delete App

Because your collection is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers, deleting it on your device deletes it completely. We hold no copy of your collection to delete on our end.
